AVHS Students Attend Engineering Event

AVHS Students Explore Engineering

Alta Vista junior and seniors (and one very bright sophomore) attended the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers' (SHPE) annual Advancement of Latinos in Engineering (ALE) and Young Latina Forum (YLF) event on Friday, February 4 .

The event, coordinated by University of Arizona SHPE students, exposes high school students to engineering as a career, sparking interest in both attending college and in exploring engineering.  At the event, the students participated in a variety of activities, including professional and student panels, guest speakers, hands-on activities, competitions, and a professional lunch.

Our lobos had a great time and learned a thing or two about engineering.  Whether they decide to pursue this field or not, it is definitely an option for them, and these bright lobos will surely make all of us proud in their future endeavors.
