OUR PHILOSPOHY ABOUT COMMUNITIES
Leona Group charter schools strive to not only be a part of the community - but also to become pillars of support to their neighbors.
Leona Group charter schools are an invaluable resource, working to provide for the needs of the community. While the programs vary by site, some examples include:
- Summer meals
- Breakfast, lunch and supper programs for students
- Parenting classes
- Computer workshops for parents
- Language classes
- Food pantries
- Community service projects for students
- Immunization fairs
- Free dentist visits
- Mentoring programs
- Before- and after-school care
- Open gym
- Community BBQs and carnivals
Just as every child is unique, every community we serve is unique. Each school serves a very different population of families whose history, goals, ambitions, culture, ethnic and socio-economic diversity present unique opportunities and challenges.
This is why it is so very critical that our schools maintain site-based autonomy. This allows every school to assess its special circumstances and act – through relationships and service - accordingly and proactively to each need.
