Cincinnati Leadership Academy
Teachers at Cincinnati Leadership Academy were the inspiration behind some very successful student expressions. Eight of Crystal Collier’s grade 3 students will be featured in an anthology called A Celebration of Poets. Only the best poets from all 50 states are selected for this honor. The assignment was to write a poem about one teacher of the student's choice. The poetry of these eight students show hard work, talent and dedication. Cincinnati Leadership Academy is very proud of these deserving children and their accomplishments.

The Boy Who Loved Winter
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Joshua. He loved snowflakes and to make snowmen. He could make very beautiful snow angels in the snow. He was also the snowball champion on his block.
Joshua adored winter so much. On year, winter didn't come. He gathered all his friends and told them, "We are going to invent winter." So the next day, he started gathering tools, a lot of icicles and gallons of water. He told his friends to throw the water in the air. After that attempt didn't work, he thought of taking snow from the mountains. Joshua and his friends traveled up the mountain and tried to reach the top to get snow but couldn't. It was too high.
Joshua wasn't giving up that easy. He tried dozens of plans and ideas, but none were successful. After all those failed attempts he still had one more tick up his sleeve.
He was going to build a snow machine that would make it snow every day. He worked day and night until his parents called him in for dinner. His dad asked him what he had been doing outside all day. He said "trying to make winter."
His mom and dad told him that he couldn't make winter. He thought about his winter snow machine and said to himself maybe it will never work.
His mom said, "Snow comes from the beautiful sky and from God."
His mom told him the story of winter. She talked about the spirits and all he had to do was be patient and it would come.
Joshua went to sleep and when he woke up, it was beautiful snow outside. He grabbed his coat and played in the beautiful snow, happier than ever.

Missing Biscuits
Once in a sleepy old cabin lived a family of bears. It was cold outside but the bears didn't mind. Inside it was nice and cozy, with a warm fire, nice seats, and plenty of biscuits and tea. Nobody wanted to leave.
The, the light went out. When they went back on, the biscuits were gone so Papa Bear called Detective Bear. "Hello, Detective Bear," he said, "My biscuits are missing. Come immediately."
When he arrived, he brought two more sleuths. They asked questions. "What happened? Did you see it? What's stolen?"
The sleuths looked for clues. The found these: foot prints, crumbs, broken cups, hair, and spilled tea."
