When, at the last minute, the sponsor who was to provide the gifts fell through, special education director Mingcoria Minter sprung into action. With just a few days to prepare, Ms. Minter orchestrated a night to remember for selected students from the Academy of Business & Technology Elementary, Academy for Business and Technology, Cesar Chavez Academy East, George Crockett Academy, Highland Park Renaissance Academy and Joy Preparatory Academy.
Through a collaboration between school staffs, Leona Group corporate employees and community organizations, gifts were purchased, wrapped and provided for all participants on Monday, December 14. Event space was donated by Salon Posh in East Pointe, and a delicious meal was donated and catered by CanStrong. The corporate office Fun Committee's winter gear drive donated 8 coats, 50 hats, 15 scarves and 49 pairs of gloves/mittens to the students as well as the gifts donated by other Leona employees.
A huge thank you to all who contributed to this special day for the children and their families, giving freely of their time, funds, resources and enthusiasm!
