Parent Involvement
Parents are an important part of the learning community at Voyageur Academy. Parent and community involvement in the educational process are paramount to increasing and maintaining achievement levels for all students. According to the Michigan State Board of Education Family Involvement Policy, "Studies demonstrate that when parents are involved in their children’s education, the attitudes, behaviors and achievement of students are positively enhanced." Voyageur Academy welcomes and encourages family and community members to share their resources, talents and time in order to aid the school in meeting its goals.
Examples of ways parents are involved in our school community include:
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Class field trips
- Reading Month in March
- After-school dismissal
- Class celebrations
- School celebrations
- Fundraisers
- Exercise classes
- Hustle classes
- Teachers’ assistants
- Coaches
- Volunteer for Saturday tutoring
